Halloween Creatures Book Tag πŸ‘»

Welcome back to another book tag! I haven’t done one of these in a loooong time…mostly because there’s so many I’ve been tagged in and I don’t know where to start and so I just don’t start at all. But even though Halloween’s over, I’m still in the spooky mood so this Halloween Creatures tag is perfect right now. Thank you to Lysi @ lysiarmstrong for tagging me! (And letting my love for Halloween live another day)

WITCHES: A Book or Character that is Magical

Frogkisser! is magical because 1) it has actual magic in it and 2) it’s EXACTLY all I ever wanted in an adventure book but never knew actually existed. It’s like a self-aware D&D campaign. It’s wonderful.

MUMMIES: A Book or Character That You Can’t Wrap Your Mind Around

The premise of this book is so interesting…it’s about an entity that lives through controlling a different human every day. Except the explanation for it made no sense whatsoever?? Like, why do all the humans have to be 16?? Why do they all live in the same state? I just couldn’t get behind it.

VAMPIRE: A Book, Series, or Author That You Can’t Live Without

I’m gonna say the Wrinkle in Time series, because that’s what inspired me as a kid to keep reading and to start writing my own stories!Β  Plus, Madeleine L’Engle is a genius.

WEREWOLVES: A Book Best Read in the Middle of the Night

Jane Eyre. A weird choice, since I’m not the biggest fan of classics. But the whole dark, gothic atmosphere and the slow build up to the book’s supernatural element is so well done and deserves to be read in the middle of the night.

ZOMBIES: A Book You Picked Up for the 2nd Time / Continued After DNFing

I actually don’t think I’ve ever continued a book after quitting it, but IΒ doΒ remember picking up A Gathering of Shadows after not reading it for months because I had to return it to the library and there was a huge line to get it back out. (If that counts.)

GHOSTS: A Book You Easily Predicted a Twist or Ending

This book was really cute, but I kinda figured out who the “mystery guy” was pretty early on.

FRANKENSTEIN: A Book That Truly Shocked You

The Girl on the Train, probably. This book is just plot twist after plot twist and I was so unprepared for literally all of them. This is one of the most cleverly-written mysteries I’ve read.

SKELETONS: A Book or Character That Chilled You to the Bone

Ooh, Elias’s mom from the An Ember in the Ashes series. (I think I was so afraid of her that my brain forgot her name) The way the book describes how cold and relentless she is is so well done, and I get immediate goosebumps whenever she shows up.

GHOULS: A Book that Left You Hungry

Probably Throne of Glass. Celaena just loves food so much. She’s always eating chocolate or having huge breakfast feasts and I got super jealous because all I have is college food.

GOBLINS: A Greedy Character

Here we go again with the classics. I just really couldn’t think of a book I read recently with someone really greedy so I turned to the original Greedy Character…Dorian Grey.

DEVIL: A Dark, Evil Character

Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles, 100%. I can’t picture any character who’s moreΒ pureΒ evil than Levana is.

GRIM REAPER: A Character You Loved/Hated Who Died

Oh jeez, so many choices. Okay, I’m not going to spoil it for you but if you read this book you probably know who I’m talking about. And I kinda both love and hate them? It’s more of a “I love to hate them” type deal.

SCARECROW: A Book or Character that Scares You

Of course I’m going to put this book in this tag. I can’t help it. The book itself scares me, but I’ve never been more afraid of a book’s narrator than I was of Joe.Β

That’s the Halloween Creatures book tag! I’m not going to tag anyone because we’re already a week into November, but if you’re still in the Halloween spirit like me, then by all means do this tag!

Do you guys agree/disagree with any of my answers? Let me know! ❀
